What to do when your hoarding is damaged, defaced or blocked mid campaign
Outdoor lives outside, so things happen to it. A monsoon peels a corner of the flex. A local poster gets stuck on your creative. A new construction wraps the sightline. The good news is every one of these has a standard fix if you catch it early.
Set expectations in writing before you sign
Your booking confirmation should say who is responsible for what. Reprinting a torn flex, cleaning off pasted posters and pruning obstructing branches all cost small but real amounts. Agreeing in advance who pays and how quickly they act prevents arguments in the middle of a live campaign.
Ask for periodic proof of display
- Weekly photos from a fixed angle, timestamped.
- Night shots for lit sites, taken from the driver's line of sight.
- A wide shot that shows the surroundings, not only the board.
If any of these look off, you have a documented baseline to raise the issue with the site owner or partner.
Common problems and typical fixes
- Peeling or torn flex: a repair or reprint within 48 hours, at partner cost if within warranty period.
- Pasted posters or graffiti: cleaning within a day, sometimes chargeable.
- Tree or new signage blocking sightline: escalate to the owner. If it cannot be resolved, negotiate a pro rated credit for the affected days.
- Power failure on a lit site: report the same night, expect a same day fix and credit for missed nights.
Keep an audit trail
Save a single WhatsApp or email thread per site with dated photos and fix confirmations. If a dispute reaches the end of the campaign, that thread is your evidence for a fair adjustment.
